Blind Masseurs in the Streets vs Foreign Reflexologists in 5 star establishments

Posted by Picasa

blind masseurs are found in the streets of Kota Kinabalu doing a good service to lots of customers in broad daylight and the charges are reasonable.

On the other hand beautiful girls from foreign countries are hidden on third floors doing a flourishing business (in the darkness of the night may be) and charging great fees.

Is this one of the unfair things in life?

Hey, I also took a picture of this scene at Gaya Street two Sundays ago! And totally forgotten to blog about this! Getting old. Thanks for sharing.

Actually I took this photo last year but I thought it is a good time to write about it.
The Visually Impaired are getting older now and some are out in the streets.

the younger ones who have been taken care of by the schools can at least have proper jobs. In the UK many are college educated and are very well employed in many different fields.

We are very behind in Special Education. We also are very behind in helping the visually impaired to establish their small businesses.
Too many sharks around for peace enterprises to reign?

Dear Peacemakers
I would like to see Malaysia breaking out of the traditional attitude towards the visually impaired and other disadvantaged people and set a new standard for a caring society. All Malaysians must have equal rights including those who cannot see or speak or hear! Or walk!!

Dear Fufu
Perhaps they are only available on Sundays!
And then the market would be so full of people. Next time look for the stationery shop - I do hope that the towkay of the shop will be abundantly blessed by God for his kindness to allow these visually impaired to use his five foot way!!

Madam
It is wonderful of you to highlight the plight of the visually disabled.
The society at large should support the visually impaired. No one should be born sightless and be doomed to a life of begging!! It is just not right in our Malaysia Boleh society.

In Sibu, there r also trained masseurs at the blind centre. It pays well and they r independent. It is a fine way to earn a living. More lucrative than for example weaving baskets.

Dear kamaliah
Thanks for dropping by and expressing your lovely thoughts.
I too believe in provide equal opportunities to those who are born with some impairment. Many famous musicians are visually impaired for examples (Ray Charles - etc)
Opportunities must be created for them.

Dear Beng Beng
Nice of you to visit. Sibu has a great Society of the Blind to help the more adult visually impaired.

The children are usually sent to Kuching to the school for the Blind for minimum education.

I also hope that more of them can attain tertiary education.

Are those guys being treated for footsore, after wearing the straw sandals? Maybe this as relation to yr latest post about straw scandals.
Hee..hee.. I really like when you post some old photographs it really give those nostalgia sort of feelings.
Thanks

No straw sandals won't give sores. In fact tight leather shoes and wearing them all day can harm the feet. Look at ladies who have been wearing high heels....their feet are actually quite deformed!!
Thanks for visiting.
Cheers.

Hi Changi Yi,

Happy that you raised this issue. I just don't know what is happening to our country these days. While the genuine warganegara find it difficult to earn a living without porper premises, licenses and professional certificates there are some foreign workers who enjoy the patronage of various kinds of VIPS and Nouveau Rich in four or five star hotels disguising as professional "masseurs" and "reflexologists". God bless them for their important connection.
